The Bok Rugby World Cup squad has finally been announced – get it here.

Forwards – Willem Alberts, Schalk Brits, Schalk Burger, Lood de Jager, Bismarck du Plessis, Jannie du Plessis, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Eben Etzebeth, Siya Kolisi, Francois Louw, Frans Malherbe, Victor Matfield, Beast Mtawarira, Trevor Nyakane, Coenie Oosthuizen, Adriaan Strauss, Duane Vermeulen.

Backs – Jean de Villiers (c), Damian de Allende, Fourie du Preez, Bryan Habana, Zane Kirchner, Jesse Kriel, Pat Lambie, Willie le Roux, Lwazi Mvovo, Rudy Paige, Ruan Pienaar, JP Pietersen, Handré Pollard, Morné Steyn.

Congrats to the team – it’s a strong team for sure but there are definitely some lucky ones and some unlucky ones – let’s take a look at those:

Lucky: Rudy Paige, Zane Kirchner, Morne Steyn

Unlucky: Elton Jantjies, Steven Kitshoff, Vincent Koch

Either way, the Rugby World Cup is upon us and it’s time to get behind the Boks!

  1. Francois Hougaard also unlucky, playing great rugby in the Currie Cup again, has lots of international experience and can cover wing and scrumhalf.

    Another lucky selection is Coenie Oosthuizen, I would have preferred a fully fit Vincent Koch (who can also pack down on both sides).
