Fantasy Football – Gameweek 1

Fantasy football is back. It’s undoubtedly one of my favourite hobbies and one of my most hated hobbies all in one. I’ll select a team that I think is great, sit down to watch the opening weekends fixtures, and as soon as someone scores that’s not in my team – I’ll utter the words “I was going to have him” or “I thought of him”. It’s so frustrating, but I love it!

So here’s The Leftbacks team for Gameweek 1.

So a quick summary of our side:

Starting at the back, we’ve gone for Stoke’s, Jack Butland in goal until we play our wildcard, we reckon they have decent opening fixtures (Schwarzer won’t start for Leicester).

In defence, Koscielny and Shaw don’t need explaining. The remaining three we just went for cheap options, we’ve been led to believe that Francis is a defender that likes to attack, so we’ll go with him.

Midfield is where we hoping to get the majority of our points, Hazard, Ozil and Sterling are all at top clubs and should be solid in most games. Matt Ritchie is our fourth midfielder – all we know about him is that he scored 15 goals from midfield last season in the Championship. Finally, our fifth midfielder is Dimitri Payet from West Ham. The Hammers signed him in the summer from Marseille. We’re hoping he’ll play a similar role to the one that Downing played last season.

In the front line, we’ve splashed our cash on Wayne Rooney, we’re convinced he will lead the line at United and do really well. We’re quite sure he’ll be getting our captaincy armband on many occasions this season. We’ve then got Benteke to partner him – we’re hoping he does well at Liverpool this season. Finally, we’ve got ourselves a budget striker in Deeney from Watford.

That’s our side – what do you think, good, average, rubbish?  Tweet us your league codes if you’d like us to join your league.

Good luck.
